Upcoming Speech Tournaments

Jan 21, 2017: Chanhassen High School Speech Tournament

Looking forward to seeing you at our first tournament. Here are important details:

  • We will leave the top doors of North at 6:30 am; the coaches will be at the school closer to 6:00 or 6:15, so we'll be there to start checking you in.  Come dressed in your suit; you could bring more comfortable shoes if you want -- but don't forget your dress shoes!

  • This tournament is BIG -- so they are using two different buildings.  Here is the breakdown:

  • Competing at Chanhassen High School:

    • Novice Discussants

    • Novice Extemp Speakers

    • all Veteran members

  • Competing at Chaska West Middle School:

    • All Novice entries, besides Discussion and Extemp Speaking

  • Round 1 starts at 9:00 -- at both locations -- except for Discussion.  All Discussion rounds will start 15 minutes early (so, at 845 for Round 1), to accommodate double entries.

  • Novices will not have Final Rounds -- just three prelim rounds.  Varsity entrants will have Finals after their three prelims.  The people at the middle school will get bussed back to Chanhassen HS in time to watch finals there --- Finals will start around 2.

  • The Awards will likely start around 4 and will take about 45 minutes.  We should leave Chanhassen HS by about 5:00 or 5:30.
